Jer 23:24
Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the Lord. KJV
This is obviously a rhetorical question. The Lord is not looking for an answer here; but is trying to remind our feeble mind of an all-important truth: I AM THAT I AM.
In our modern society, with all its knowledge, science, and humanistic spirituality we seem to have forgotten the reality and the awesomeness of the omnipresence of the Lord.
If we knew He was in the car with us, would we really say that to the driver who cut us off?
If we knew He was on the sofa with us, would we really be watching that particular TV show?
If we knew that He knows our thoughts, would we really entertain that revenge, that fantasy?
It seems that today’s Christians have taught the world (by implication) that God is only available on Sundays, and that for only a couple of hours. Sure, unsaved people know not to drop the F-bomb on us if they know we are a believer; but that is the extent of their knowledge of the Lord.
Whose fault is that? I say it is OURS and ours alone.
The only light they have to go by is the one we provide. Apparently we have let the world know that it is not okay to cuss.
Big whoop.
Is that the essence of our witness to the world through our actions and speech?
If so, could it be that we have forgotten that there is no hiding from the God Who Is There?
