Moses spent 40 years on the backside of the desert–a dry place–waiting to hear from God. Took God that long to get Moses ready for the work he was called to do.
The nation Israel spent 40 years wandering in the wilderness–a dry place–waiting to get to the promised land. Took God that long to get them ready to conquer the inhabitants.
Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness–a dry place–waiting to hear from God. The only voice He heard was that of Satan.
Although we know that the Lord is not slow about His promises, as some count slowness, it does seem that He tends to take forever when we are the ones doing the waiting. Once I’ve gone more than a few days without hearing from the Lord or sensing His presence, I would usually begin to question even my salvation.
I am once again in a dry place–and I sense that there are many others also in the same experience.
The dry places will do one of two things for us:
1. We will either dry up and blow away, or
2 We will send our roots down deeper looking for water.
As for me, I no longer question the mind of the Lord. I will send my roots down deeper and wait for Him.

I have been to the dry places… I just make sure to keep the water of life flowing, through disciplined study and prayer.
In those times I figure he is just filling me back up with his living water.
As I told Darla in an e-mail today. God will what God will.

This is a great post Dale. Thank you for sharing your heart and wisdom. I do not like the dry places, but I do love the rescue when it happens, and I know we are both close to that. God only puts us through what we need to come closer to HIM. SO I am choosing to praise HIM in my desert land, and remember that ONLY HE can keep me here or pull me out!

Yes, Carl, that is sending the roots down deep. I tend to lose the disciplined stdy and only read in dry times.

As usual, for what is going on these days, I missed something. Not uncommon anymore. But, the Lord is even there in my misses. Tose who couldn’t figure it out probably were blessed by all three as I was.

I’m learning my roots are not quite so deep or so strong as I had thought. It does help, though, coming here and to a few other blogs to get some “bread”.

I remember the time I hit the same place, brother. It was both scary and humbling. What I eventually found out was that my strength was not the issue–it was my dependence upon His strength. Took me awhile to learn exactly how weak I am so that His strength can be made perfect (2 Cor. 12:9). I’m still working on that to this day.
Nor, there are many in the blog part of His Body, Gracie and I included, who are praying for you during this trial.
