Short of Glory

Ro 3:23
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;       KJV

Are there any who have not? No, not one. Except for The One.

Jesus only has not sinned, will not sin, cannot sin. And it is in Him that I find my only hope of righteousness.

The word sin means to ‘miss the mark.’ The mark is explained in this verse as ‘the glory of God.’ That is what we are aiming for. That is our target–the glory of God. There is nothing else worth aiming for.

There is no success in this world that compares with the glory of God. There is no success that compares with having the glory of God as your reward, as your covering, as your countenance.

Yet, the Bible declares that we have missed that mark, that target.

Is this to always be the case? Am I forever destined to come short of my desire? Is sin my ever-present companion?

NO!! A thousand times, NO!!

For my righteousness is not my own, but His righteousness. I am dead and my life is hid with Christ in God (Col. 3:3)

Thank God the verse says that it is in the past. It is over. Done with. It does ot have to be repeated.

I sinned. Of that there can be no doubt. But, I do not have to continue therein; for the Spirit has made me free by grace through faith.

I believe, and therefore I am free. I am free from the consequences of that prior state of sin. And I am free from the law or principle that states that I must continue therein. I am no longer a slave of sin; but a slave of Jesus Christ in whom I have justification from my past and a guarantee of my future.

Glory to God forevermore!
